Selfie Tag!

1. What is your best physical feature?
I have the most perfect ears! LOL just kidding...I have no idea. You guys answer this one for me ☺

2. If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go & why?
I would love to visit Japan, Spain and Mexico in its entirety. I want to learn all about my roots and where my ancestors were from and grew up. I feel it's always good to know where you come from to know where you are going...

3. What do you need to do to feel better when you're sick?
Sleep and soup. I get very little sleep + I'm a natural insomniac. So when I get sick, I really  need to recharge and go back to basics.

4. What one piece of advice would you give to the youth of America & why?
Be yourself. Work hard. Be honest. Never give up. Be more worried about chasing your dreams than chasing love. Take care of yourself first and true love will fall on your lap without a doubt. ♥

5. What animal do you think you were in your past life?
I think I was a panda or a cat. Mainly, because of their behavioral tendencies. I'm kind of a loner too, in some sense.

6. If you could travel back in time, what would you change?
I would change the way I handled my life before. I was more worried about partying and having fun than actually building a future I could be proud of. Now, I am in my 30s trying to do what I should've in my 20s. I still had lots of fun, so I have no regrets. I just wish I had been smarter then.

7. What do you do for fun on the weekends?
I usually spend it with my family. We always try to have a small adventure or do something fun with our boys.

8. What's your biggest workplace pet peeve?
Favoritism. Work should be rewarded by the quality of your work, not who's liked best by the boss on a personal level.

9. I wouldn't be caught dead without _____?
My family! Oh & my cellphone.

10. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?
The ability to be in several places at once so I could do it all!

Fun & Romantic Weekend in Las Vegas! {Photo Heavy}

*** Disclaimer: This is not a sponsored blog post.

Hi everyone!

The Summer of 2014 has been an insane  one for us as a family. So, Andres & I decided to spend a fun & romantic weekend in Las Vegas!

We were very excited because last time we were in The Entertainment Capital of the World  was about 4 years ago with friends for New Years 2011. We were also quite apprehensive because this was the 1st time traveling without our boys. We always take them everywhere we go, but we needed some time alone to hang out by ourselves without the pressures of parenting...

We have some major  changes coming to us in the next few weeks, so this trip to The City of Lights  was our way to close and celebrate this chapter of our lives and welcome the new bright future ahead of us! ☺

Join us in this mini adventure in Sin City...Enjoy!

20 Facts About Me! {Tag}

1✖️ I am the oldest of 3 children. I am also the only female.

2✖️ No matter what hair color I dye my hair, it always turns reddish. I have a lot of red in my hair b/c two of my great grandma's were redheads.

3✖️ I love to cook and cook A LOT. At least 2 meals a day on most days. But I also HATE to clean the stove everyday! So I deep clean it once a week.

4✖️ I moved to the U.S. when I was 17. Most people don't believe me b/c I barely have an accent. It only comes out if I get nervous or very angry.

5✖️ I can't argue in person to save my life. Because my 1st language is Spanish, I have to think about what I say before I say it. So, I'm not quick to respond. When I do, I usually say something unintentionally stupid or disrespectful that I'm later on regretting. I'm only quick-witted with people I feel comfortable with.

6✖️ I am VERY shy in person. It takes a LOT of me to actually talk to someone. And because I'm shy, I am unintentionally awkward. I'm shy even with people I know sometimes...

7✖️ Because, let's be honest, I have "Bitch Face" + I'm shy, people think I am a snob. I REALLY am not. I just am too weird  to be one of the cool kids.

8✖️ I dislike/despise/HATE cantaloupe. The smell, the taste, the texture. EVERYTHING! Oh & I can't stand the color green.

9✖️ I'm a Libra ♎️ And I am true to my sign in the sense that I HATE confrontation or drama. I rather bottle up my feelings & keep things inside...because that's TOTALLY healthy. #sarcasm

10✖️ When I was in school, I was a very good student. But I was also always in trouble. I practically lived at the principal's office who, by the way, was a scary nun because I attended a Catholic co-ed elementary school.

11✖️ I have NO idea what the name of my favorite cartoon growing up was. It was a #Japanese anime about a little girl who traveled with her mom as part of a circus, her mom dies, the girl goes & works at a factory & the owner turns out to be her rich grandpa (score!). I remember the entire storyline but not the name of the cartoon. Help!!

12✖️ I love the crisp look of the color white. But I am too messy to maintain a white household.

13✖️ My favorite animal is the White Siberian Tiger & my favorite flower is the Pua Aloalo (Hawaiian White Hibiscus).

14✖️ I am scatter-brained & usually have 20 projects going on at once. Right now, it's some airbrushed facecharts I haven't finished & my boys' baby books I haven't finished. I'm sure I'll come up with more sh*t to not finish...

15✖️ I curse like a sailor. It's hard to manage with people that don't know me because I don't know who will be offended. But my most used words are: sh*t, f*ck (and all its derivatives), balls, dammit. Pardon my French.

16✖️ Even though I am Mexican, I don't care for spicy food. I CAN eat spicy but I like to actually enjoy my food, thank you very much.

17✖️ I love to travel but HATE flying! It makes me VERY nervous. A chair suspended in the air by NOTHING is not normal, people! And yes, I do understand the physics/aerodynamics behind it...

18✖️ I am a girly geek. Star Wars and Sex & The City live in my brain happily together ♥

19✖️ I trust very few people & tend to have a 6th sense when it comes to others. It's very strange.

20✖️ I love watching sports (MLB World Series, NFL Super Bowls, FIFA World Cups, Olympics) but I have ZERO athleticism in my body. I can work out at the gym & that's about it.

My Makeup Story {Tag}

1. How old were you when you started wearing makeup?
I was 14 years old. I would wear powder foundation, mascara, black pencil liner on my top lashline & nude lips. I've always loved nude lips!

2. How did you get into makeup?
It was actually my cousin Brenda who introduced me to liquid eyeliner & my love for makeup started from there. Later on, I started watching Petrilude on YouTube & it became an obsession. As time has gone by, I've learned more & more about it. It truly is my passion ♥

3. What are some of your favorite brands?

4. What does makeup mean to you?
It's a form of expression - it can be wild, pretty, simple, correcting, editorial...It changes with one's mood and there's always something new to learn or a new product to try. It's also an extension of who people are. It can bring out an unknown sense of self-confidence to the person wearing it that nothing else brings out.

5. If you could only wear 5 products on your face what would they be?
1) NYX Cosmetics Eyebrow Gel in Brunette, 2) Inglot Gel Eyeliner in 77, 3) L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes Waterproof Mascara in Carbon Black, 4) Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie Lipstick in Be Free  & Purely Cosmetics 100% Pure Silk Powder. I would keep things very simple and go back to my original basics.

6. What is your favorite thing about makeup?
It can literally convert a person from drab to fab. It can give someone a wonderful boost of self-confidence or a new-found sense of power they didn't have before.

7. What do you think about drugstore makeup vs. high end makeup?
I think long gone are the days where drugstore makeup was considered poor quality. You can find both good quality as well as sub-par products in both drugstore or high-end makeup counters. Now, there's a wide variety of products out in the market from both ends of the spectrum that even out the plane.

8. What is one tip of advice you can give a beginner?
Practice, practice, practice. There's just no other way to learn.

9. What is one makeup trend you never understood?
Lips with glitter or lip decals. Not so much because I don't like them as much as I think they are super uncomfortable to wear + they are not as versatile or long-lasting as regular lip products.

10. What do you think about the beauty community on YouTube?
It has grown a lot since the days when I first started watching makeup videos. There was only a very small selection of people you could actually watch to learn makeup from. Nowadays, that selection has grown a lot and there are plenty of levels where to learn from. You can be a beginner or a pro and you'll still find someone that will cater to your particular needs.

I hope you find this tag fun to read. I tag YOU all who are reading this blog post!
Until next time...

Daytime Smokey Eye {FOTD}

Hi beauties!

In the past, I have done the smokey eye look (you can see some here and here) but I kept craving something that was more daytime and less dramatic. For this particular look, I used the NARS The NARSissist Palette because of its versatility.

I also added this picture to show you the 2nd phase of my black dye stripping + beginning stage of my ombré. Even as the tips of my hair are this brassy orange, I like the effect it gives with all the curls and layers. I'll be doing a blog post on how to remove black hair dye and provide minimum damage to your hair in the near future. For now, I hope you enjoy this makeup look:

Ariana Grande "Problem" Music Video-Inspired Makeup Look {FOTD}

OK. I must confess: Just like the rest of America (or the world at this point), I have fallen prey to Ariana Grande's beautiful voice & catchy beat on the song "Problem". The other morning, as I was starting to get ready, I was watching the video. That day, I wanted a very simple makeup look because we were going to spend some time at Santa Monica Farmers Market and Dorothy Green Park. I didn't want to look like every other day (barely awake, that is) + I wanted to keep my hair off of my face without putting it up in a bun (like I always do). So, Ariana gave me the perfect  excuse to emulate her look!

Still from Ariana Grande's "Problem" music video

If you want to know what products I used to re-create Ariana Grande's makeup look in the "Problem" video, just keep reading... ☺

My Travel Makeup Brushes! {Video}

Hi everyone!

It has been a while since the last time I recorded a video. It's been a long journey waiting to save enough money for our new camera to take great pictures + HD video. Since I'm still pretty new & learning the ins & outs of our new DSLR camera, I thought I would make this video pretty easy & simple to avoid any major issues. Also, I wanted to use it as a sort-of introduction to the Makeup Brushes 101 Series I have been promising you for like...ever!

So, without further ado, here's the My Travel Makeup Brushes video:
